Crossing the Alps without his snowpack has always been somewhere in my mind. At the end of the summer, I had the opportunity to have a first approach of this famous mountain chain by leaving for 4 days with the Defender. This period was favourable for the discovery of these mountains, whether in terms of the weather or the landscapes’ beauty. My goal was to discover as many places as possible in a very short time. I started my itinerary in Briançon to reach Beaufort. This Alps’ crossing, between roads and tracks, between France and Italy, allowed me to cross many passes such as the Montgenèvre pass, the Colle Delle Finestre or the L’Iseran pass. I was also able to camp near lakes such as the Mont Cenis lake with temperatures around 0 degrees and the first snow on the peaks. It was a first successful approach and I’m already thinking about my next adventure, the great Alps crossing in 4x4.
